Learning to Pack

This leads me back to a topic I've covered before, moving to Seattle. I'm attempting to take all my clothes on the trip up there, unfortunately I have never bought luggage in my life, so I had no idea what to get, what was a good set, how much they should cost, etc.

After making a feeble attempt at luggage shopping, I gave up and decided to go on the old school G.I. Route. I still own my original “seabag” from my old nay days so I tried to bundle and tape together as many t-shirts and pants as I could, sadly I still had more than 3 / 4 of my closet to go. Who knew I owned so many clothes? Mind you, I have gone spring cleaning and ditched a lot of clothes that didn't fit me, was old or just plain out of style...would it be sad if I mentioned I still had a pair of black Z. Cavaricci. pants in the pile? So in the end I ended up going to the overpriced army surplus store in McAllen and bought a 70” black duffel bag.

The bag is pretty nice, durable and big enough to smuggle a dwarf past the checkpoint. If I get the chance I'll take a picture of it. Unfortunately, it does not have any straps of any sorts, so moving it around is going to be a b*tch.

The final piece of luggage I'm taking with me is my electric bass. It's going to pain me having to leave brown Betty down here for over three months, but there is no way I can take her with me on the plane. I checked with the airline and the only way I could take her with me and be sure she would be safe would be to buy a separate plane seat for her. Alas, I'm not rolling in dough, so that plan is not feasible.
